On Saturday January 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Gay Distillery in St. Lucy, Mount Gay Managing Director Raphael Grisoni presented a cheque of $20,000 to the Barbados government marking their commitment to the We Gatherin’ project in St, Lucy. Mount Gay has pledged to support the parish of St. Michael later in the year.
The money will be used to improve the facility of the St. Lucy district hospital directly but Mount Gay also highlighted its plans to support We Gatherin’ throughout 2020. We Gatherin’ 2020 will also shine a spotlight on the Hospitals of Barbados which are earmarked to benefit from its philanthropic drive and we will see other health care institutions such as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, The Psychiatric Hospital, the Geriatric Hospital and other District Hospitals receiving financial or in-kind assistance.
The Rum distillery offered free tours on Saturday of which over 500 Barbadians living on island and abroad as well as visitors took part. The tours were followed by a planting of 50 trees by Ministers The Hon. Kerrie Symmonds, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, The Hon. Peter Phillips, Minister Transport, Works and Maintenance, Senator the Hon. Lucille Moe, Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Public Affairs, and Mount Gay Managing Director Raphael Grisoni. Members of the Boyce, Griffith, Greaves, Ward and Yearwood families of St. Lucy also planted a variety trees which included dunks, mammy apple, gooseberry, avocado, cherry, pomegranate, sugar apple and carambola trees.
Close to 600 medals will be presented at the 2019 NIFCA Awards Ceremony to be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium Complex. For the [...]
