Journey to the Last Cane and witness the Blessing!  Learn about the heritage, love the lime and have fun with your family and friends at the first official event of the Crop Over Season. Feel the love of culture as we re-discover Speightstown through a digital treasure hunt (Registration).

The events comprising of the Opening Ceremony commence with a Water Ritual by the sea; followed by a Parade through the streets of Speightstown to the Speightstown Playing Field led by the ‘Arrivants’ along with a showcase of music, dance and a colourful spectacle in the form of traditional masquerade costumes.

Participate in the Festival Fair and Fun Zone featuring craft; traditional sweets and food on sale; a children’s zone; tea party; folk heritage activities such as Landship manoeuvres, plaiting of the maypole workshops; a rum shop and MORE!  Following, will be the official Blessing of the The Last Canes as well as a presentation to honour this year’s outstanding sugar workers and Stalwarts in the festival.  This signals the end of the formalities and we head to the party elements beginning with a musical folk heritage imbued celebration and ending with a soca party.

For this folk and soca infused party we have Sonia Williams, Tahirah Gibbons, MR Blood and

performances by Quon, Ignatius Byer Primary School Choir, The Mighty Gabby,  T.C, Dancin’ Africa,  Hypasoundz,  Marzville,  Mikey,  Li’l Rick, Multifarious and One Movement.
