HOTT in title and in entertainment value, that’s the new BAJARAMA event, set to get Crop Over started ‘correct’ with an all-white affair on Saturday, May 4 at the National Cultural Foundation car park.

HOTT 95.3 FM, a member of the family of powerhouses in the Starcom Network of stations is teaming up with the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) as the title partner in this six pack, entertaining, family-friendly celebration in southern, central, easterly and westerly points on the island.

The HOTT BAJARAMAs, named for its focus on our (Roots, Arts, Music, Agriculture), will be setting the stage with a showcase of a diverse mix of elements that continue to allow us to boast of that unique selling proposition – Crop Over is more than a carnival. According to the design concept, it will ensure that we never forget the importance of our cultural Roots, buried deep in our rich multi-ethnic heritage; the stunning impact of our Visual Arts and Crafts; our world class, body-moving Music; and the reason we come together to celebrate between May and August every year – our Agriculture, specifically the story of sugar.

After the first event at the NCF Car Park, West Terrace, St. James with its call to action for Barbadians to Party in Peace this Crop Over, the journey continues to the Dover Playing Field in Christ Church on May 10, Three Houses Park in St. Philip on May 18, Bridgefield Playing Field in St. Thomas on May 24, Belleplaine Playing Field in St. Andrew on May 31, and culminating at the Friendship Playing Field in St. Michael on June 1.

With the HOTT BAJARAMAs, the Foundation is making a return to community-oriented events building momentum to the Festival with the countdown to the official public launch on June 8th.  At each event there will be a different focus with day time Community Fairs for the entire family including a child-friendly area, held in collaboration with the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS) and three T-10 Cricket matches at specific venues.  The Celebrity teams for these matches are soon to be announced. The Barbados Archives will have their Genealogy project available onsite where patrons can learn about their ancestry and trace their roots.  Then, later in the night, expect exciting live entertainment with Soca artistes and Calypsonians (seasoned and up&coming), popular deejays, dancers, community groups, Grand Kadooment and Foreday Morning bands showcasing their costumes and so much more.

This is also the stage where talent is discovered, and popular artistes will release their new songs for the season on the road to getting ‘Crop Over Correct’.

Start time for the HOTT BAJARAMA at the NCF Headquarters is 4:00 p.m.
