About

Enid Maxwell was born and raised in picturesque Tent Bay, St. Joseph. She gained notoriety at the then House Craft Center – first as a student and later as Principal of the Center. Her legacy will live on through the talent and skill of hundreds of young ladies at the St. Margaret’s, St. Elizabeth, St. Joseph’s and Grantley Adams’ School for whom she has been a mentor.
The family business eventually lured her away from teaching and back to the arms of her first love – cooking and subsequently catering to the gastronomical needs of the quests at both the Seaview and Atlantis Hotels. Her Sunday buffet lunches at the iconic Atlantis Hotel are legendary.
The Enid Maxwell Award in the Culinary Arts is presented to one, who, like Ms. Maxwell, can look at basic ingredients and see the most creative, tasty possibilities for a culinary creation.
