Sailor’s Valentine Series

Join us Sunday August 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm as we celebrate our Craft Heritage with a mini series on Sailor’s Valentine.
The Sailor’s Valentine is a unique tradition of highly ornate shell collages. This four episode series gives historical and contemporary information on the creation and sale of the shell craft, believed to be first developed in Barbados by newly freed women in the Post Emancipation period, which were thought to have been made by the sailors who often purchased these as gifts for loved one’s back home.
