CARIFESTA XV Festival Overview
CARIFESTA XV, the Caribbean Festival of Arts, will take place in Barbados from August 22 to August 31, 2025, under the theme “Caribbean Roots…Global Excellence.” This premier festival will celebrate the vibrancy, creativity, and innovation of Caribbean culture while addressing global challenges such as sustainability, resilience, and peacebuilding. CARIFESTA XV aims to position the Caribbean as a global leader in cultural diplomacy and creative excellence.
Position Summary:
The Social Media Coordinator will manage online engagement, community management, and the overall social media strategy for CARIFESTA 2025. This role will involve creating, curating, and distributing content across multiple social media platforms to ensure vibrant and engaging interactions with local and international audiences. The coordinator will also monitor performance analytics and trends to optimize CARIFESTA’s social media presence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Social Media Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to promote CARIFESTA 2025 across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and others.
- Align social media campaigns with the festival’s overall goals and branding.
- Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure messaging consistency.
- Identify target audiences and adjust strategies accordingly to maximize reach and engagement.
2. Content Creation & Curation:
- Create engaging, visually appealing, and culturally relevant content that reflects the spirit and diversity of CARIFESTA.
- Manage content calendars to ensure timely delivery of promotional materials, event updates, and interactive posts.
- Curate user-generated content and collaborate with photographers, videographers, and graphic designers.
- Ensure all content adheres to CARIFESTA branding guidelines and meets quality standards.
3. Community Management:
- Foster a vibrant online community by actively engaging with followers, participants, and delegates.
- Respond to comments, questions, and direct messages in a timely, professional manner.
- Monitor conversations about CARIFESTA across all platforms and maintain a positive online presence.
- Address any online complaints or negative feedback in collaboration with the Communications team.
4. Analytics & Reporting:
- Track social media performance metrics, such as engagement rates, reach, impressions, and audience growth.
- Prepare regular reports analyzing the success of social media campaigns, offering insights, and recommending improvements.
- Monitor social media trends and competitor activities to keep CARIFESTA at the forefront of online engagement.
5. Influencer & Partnership Engagement:
- Identify and liaise with social media influencers, artists, and cultural figures to amplify CARIFESTA’s digital reach.
- Develop collaborations with local and international partners to expand CARIFESTA’s digital footprint.
- Manage content partnerships and sponsored posts to enhance visibility and engagement.
Key Deliverables:
- Social Media Strategy Document: A detailed plan outlining the platforms, content strategies, and engagement tactics to be used for CARIFESTA 2025.
- Content Calendar: A structured calendar organizing social media content leading up to and during the festival.
- Engagement Reports: Regular reports measuring performance metrics, insights, and optimization recommendations.
- Community Engagement Growth: Demonstrated growth in online followers, interaction rates, and community engagement.
- Influencer/Partner Collaboration: Partnerships with key influencers and cultural figures to enhance digital reach and audience interaction.
Milestones:
- Social Media Strategy Finalization: Complete and present strategy.
- Content Calendar Launch: Publish and execute content calendar.
- Mid-Festival Engagement Report: Submit an interim report analyzing engagement.
- Post-Festival Impact Report: Present final engagement analysis and insights.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years managing social media platforms for large-scale events, festivals, or cultural organizations.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, tools, and trends.
- Experience in content creation, community management, and analytics.
- Excellent communication and copywriting skills.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with strict deadlines.
- Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving and audience engagement.
