The National Cultural Foundation is delighted to announce LifeLine, a ground-breaking exhibition of works by the legendary Patrick Foster. This retrospective spans three decades of paintings and drawings, offering an extraordinary insight into the creative journey of a Caribbean icon.

The exhibition’s opening event occurs at Queen’s Park Gallery, Bridgetown, on Saturday, January 11th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Foster, now 82 and in poor health, will make a rare public appearance to introduce his work. Patrons are asked to gather and enter through the rear terrace for this momentous occasion.

Curated by photographer Logan C. Thomas, LifeLine is the culmination of a year-long process of rediscovery unearthing hundreds of Foster’s sketches, drawings, and paintings stored in portfolios and many high shelves. The collection showcases a wide range of subject matter, including dreamscapes, heroic nudes, social commentary, and imaginative worlds infused with magical realism.

“Patrick Foster’s work captures the essence of Caribbean identity, blending the mythical with the everyday,” says Thomas. “This exhibition reveals the depth of his vision, from recurring characters and bold palettes to the reimagining of Caribbean legends that resonate across his plays, paintings, and unpublished novel, Blood and Soul.”

Additionally, there will be two other components the first of which is a panel discussion on Saturday, January 25th, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM where Patrick Foster will join curator Logan C. Thomas and art historian Risée Chaderton-Charles to discuss his work, answer questions and share insights into his artistic process. Secondly, on

Saturday, February 1st, two life-drawing sessions will feature a nude model, offering participants a chance to draw from life. Sessions will be held from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM and attendees will be required to bring their own materials.

The exhibition continues through February 6th, with gallery hours Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. For further information, please contact the Queen’s Park Gallery at 427-2345 or Mr. Logan C. Thomas at 833-9949. (PR)
