About

After a career in the World Meteorological Organisation which took him to Europe for several years, John Wickham followed in the footsteps of his father, famous journalist Clennell Wickham, and became Literary Editor to The Nation, one of Barbados’ leading newspapers.

He also served for many years as the Editor for BIM Literary Quarterly, one of the Caribbean’s most famous literary magazines. His short stories have been widely anthologized. Among his collections are Casuarina Row (1974) and Discoveries (1993). Wickham also co-edited The Oxford Book of Caribbean Short Stories.

The John Wickham Award in Non- Fiction Prose is presented to the individual who uses language to inspire, entertain and educate.
