OPEN CALL TO BARBADIAN VISUAL ARTISTS

FOR PARTICIPATION IN

ONLINE CATALOGUE, OPEN STUDIO PROGRAM AND CURATED STUDIO TOURS

 

Background

This year 2025, Barbados will host CARIFESTA XV, the premier regional event in cultural integration where each participating nation will showcase the best of their country through the Arts. It will be held from August 22 – 31. Countries from CARICOM and the wider African Diaspora will also be participating.

Barbadian Visual Artists, with studios suitable for visits, are asked to submit the 3 images
of pieces for consideration for participation in the

    1. Online catalogue.
    2. Open Studios Program.
    3. Curated bus tours and associated in-person exhibition.

Bus Tours are being organized for four days during the CARIFESTA Aug 22nd – 31st, tentatively scheduled for August 23, 24, 27 & 30. Submission means that you have a studio appropriate for public visits and that it is available for viewing during the timeframe.

Entries may be represented by ALL art mediums and accompanying submitted text should consist of an Artist BIO (limited to 50 words). Be sure to include contact information.
Submissions MUST be original work of the applicants and artist are encouraged to submit art work that has not been recently shown in exhibitions in the last 6 months.

HOW to apply:

Complete the following registration form. The THREE (3) images must be high resolution JPEG. Applicants unable to provide a high resolution image can request the assistance of the External Coordinator to have the appropriate pictures taken in order to meet the requirements.

Deadline for Submission is Friday July 4th 2025.

Please note the following responsibilities of the NCF to the project:

    1. Collection of images/information.
    2. Curation of art work for the online catalogue.
    3. Promotion of online viewing access on the NCF platforms.
    4. Schedule & arrangement of curated tours to the Open Studios.

Please note the following responsibilities of the contributing Artists to the project:

    1. Meet the requirements of the application.
    2. Provision of images/information by the indicated deadline.
    3. Ensure clear indication of information relevant to the art submissions.
