THEME: “CARIBBEAN ROOTS, GLOBAL EXCELLENCE”
NEXT-GEN CARIBBEAN HAIR INNOVATORS CHALLENGE
Date: August 23, 2025
Location: HAIR-ITAGE Pavilion, Grand Market, Waterford, Barbados
Contestants will have 60 minutes to create a creative, culturally inspired natural hairstyle that reflects Caribbean identity, heritage and pride. Winners will be selected by a judging panel based on creativity and originality, overall presentation and cultural interpretation.
Who Can Enter:
- Amateur (non-professional) natural hairstylists aged 14 and up
- Must have no professional hairdressing license or salon employment
What You’ll Need:
- One hair model, your tools and supplies (Basic setup will be provided)
- Parental/guardian consent required for contestants and models under 18 years
Competition Guidelines:
- Each NEXT-GEN CARIBBEAN contestant will be given 60 minutes to complete their look.
- All hair should be prepared for styling, and styling must start and finish within the given timeframe.
- Only natural hair styling techniques are allowed (e.g., braiding, twisting, sculpting, coiling, Bantu knots, loc styling, etc.).
- Hair extensions, decorative accessories (beads, shells, fabric), and temporary colour sprays are permitted, but they must be applied during the 90-minute window.
- Contestants must not use any heat styling tools (e.g., blow dryers, flat irons, curling wands).
- All participants must follow strict hygiene and safety protocols.
Prizes:
- 1st Place: BDS $1,500
- 2nd Place: BDS $1,000
- 3rd Place: BDS $500
(Including cash, product bundles, styling tools and equipment)
Each winner will be featured at the Global Excellence Hair Showcase
