Background

For many Barbadians, Party Monarch was never just another competition. It was where thousands gathered to wave, sing every lyric at the top of their lungs and watch the island’s best soca artistes battle for the coveted Sweet and Power Soca Monarch crowns. It was one of the defining moments of Crop Over.

Then, in 2020, the music paused. As the last major soca competition before the COVID-19 pandemic, Party Monarch became a cherished memory. This year, after a six-year hiatus, that memory comes alive once again.

On Sunday, July 12, Banks Party Monarch, powered by Hitz 106.7 FM, returns to the National Botanical Gardens, bringing back more than a competition, it brings back a feeling. A feeling of celebration, community and the unmistakable energy that only Crop Over can create.

Events like Party Monarch are more than entertainment. They are where songs become anthems, careers are launched, communities come together and generations share the same stage side excitement. It is one of the places where the soundtrack of Crop Over is written.

This year’s return promises far more than two competitions. From the moment the gates open, patrons will be immersed in the full Party Monarch experience.

Arrive early and soak up the atmosphere, enjoy guest acts during the Banks Vibes Show, featuring Jordan English and Friends, LaStacia, Ridge & Kobie Snakes, Mastaa T, Jagwa De Champ, Stiffy, Quon and Doejay. Then, take a journey through Monarch Memories, where legendary performers RPB, TC, Natahlee, Barry Chandler, Edwin Yearwood, Leadpipe, Gorg, Peter Ram and Biggie Irie will remind audiences why Party Monarch earned its place as one of Crop Over’s most iconic events.

When the lights dim and the competition begins, a new generation of stars, alongside some of Barbados’ most celebrated performers, will take centre stage.

Competing for the Sweet Soca Monarch title are Aza, Khiomal, Mikey Mercer, Mr. Blood, Ross, Saddis, Skung Yung, and SugahRhe & Freshie, each hoping to capture the hearts of the audience with unforgettable performances.

Making this historic return even more exciting, Banks has introduced the Banks Vibes Pass, giving fans the opportunity to experience Party Monarch for just $50. It is an invitation for more Barbadians to be part of the celebration because moments like these are meant to be shared.

This year also marks an exciting milestone as Hitz 106.7 FM joins Party Monarch as an official sponsor for the very first time, helping to amplify the excitement through promotions, artist features and exclusive coverage as the countdown to the big night continues.
