Calling All Amateur Hair Braiders (Ages 14 and up)
Enter the CARIFESTA XV Hair Braiding Relay

Location: Hair and Body Adornment Pavilion, Grand Market, Waterford, Barbados
Do you have what it takes to braid under pressure, create a look that turns heads, and move as a team with style and precision? Then gather your crew and enter the CARIFESTA XV Hair Braiding Relay – a high-energy competition that puts speed, teamwork, creativity and strategy to the test.
Each team will race against the clock and each other to complete a unique braided hairstyle on a live model using coloured extensions. Teams choose how they want to distribute the work (parting, braiding, adding extensions, styling) and when to pass the baton from one stylist to the next. It’s part art, part sport, and all culture!
Who Can Enter:
- Open to Caribbean youth and school groups and amateur hair braiders ages 14 and up
- Teams must have 2 members
- Must be in Barbados on August 25, 2025.
What You’ll Need:
- A team of 2 members
- A signed note of parental or guardian consent for each member under 18
- A team name
- One hair model
- Your tools and supplies (basic setup will be provided)
Prizes:
- Product bundles, tools, and styling supplies valued at over BDS$2500 for the top three teams.
- Feature spot in the Global Excellence Hair Showcase
- A chance to be crowned CARIFESTA XV Hair Braiding Relay Champions
