2025 DECORATED CART PARADE

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

‘Creativity on Wheels!’

 

1. BACKGROUND

      The NCF invites creative individuals, communities and groups to recreate aspects of a Classic Crop Over event! 

 

2.      ELIGIBILITY

  1.      The Decorated Cart Parade is open to participation by individual or groups: schools, community, corporate, cultural etc.

 

  1.      Any Barbadian resident over the age of 12 years may apply.

 

3.       ENTRY TO THE COMPETITION

  1.      To enter the NIFCA Film/Video competition, persons must properly fill out the relevant entry form and submit it to the NCF along with the Film/Video entry on a flash drive/memory stick by 11:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025. 

     

        • Scooters, rollers, remote control toys, small replicas, wheelbarrows, push carts
        • Tricycles, Bicycles, roller-skate groups

 

may be considered for presentation.

 

    1.       Interested persons should submit a registration form along with a sketch of the proposed cart/implement/ vehicle and a brief 200-word description of the design to the NCF by June 6th, 2025.
  1.       Sketches should be no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches and suggest the colours to be used in the final design.
  1.       One of the following themes may be utilised:

 

    1. Barbados welcomes CARIFESTA!
    2. An African Heritage: Roots of the Barbados Landship
    3. Sustainable Barbados! Let’s Go green!
    4. Disability is NOT Inability

 

4.  SELECTION & SHOWCASING OF DESIGNS

 

  1.       The NCF will select the best 25 sketches by June 10th, 2025 and provide $500.00 (payable in two parts) per selected sketch for the production of the vehicle.

 

  1.       Finished carts MUST be prepared for showcasing at the Opening Gala on Saturday, 5th July, 2025.

 

  1.       All vehicles must be in place for the given call time and be paraded by the entrant for the Opening Gala. They must remain on display for the duration of the event.

 

  1.       The number of persons planned to accompany entries shall be submitted on registration.

 

  1.       Designs and enhancements to the entries must be original and clearly depict the theme as registered. All entrants are encouraged to utilize Barbadian and Caribbean themes, history, culture, social commentary, irony etc. in a creative and visually appealing way.

 

    1.      Entrants and persons accompanying the entries should carefully consider their costuming towards enhancing their presentations and drawing the attention of judges and the spectators.

 

  1.      During any presentation, the entrant(s) shall NOT make any gesture or mime likely to offend the generally accepted standard of good taste or engage in any behaviour that may be deemed to be morally offensive or vulgar.  Such performer(s) may be removed from further participation in the event.
