Chattel House Cut-Outs Bring Colour and Connectivity to Crop Over

The 2025 Crop Over season is officially here. The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has planted the first seeds of celebration across the island with the installation of colourful chattel house cut-outs—now on display in Oistins and Bay Street. Designed to reflect the vibrancy of Barbadian heritage, these eye-catching installations aren’t just for show—they’re your digital gateway to all things Crop Over!

Each chattel house features a scannable QR code nestled in a Crop Over-branded “bus stop” sign. Once scanned, the code gives revellers instant access to this year’s Crop Over calendar, the official Crop Over playlist, and the latest updates from the festival’s social media pages.

“These houses represent the colour, creativity and community that Crop Over is known for,” said NCF Chief Executive Officer, Carol Roberts. “With the Sweet Limes starting next week, the season is well underway. These cut-outs not only brighten up the island—they also help people connect directly with the festival experience, wherever they are.”

And this is just the beginning. Four more chattel house cut-outs are set to pop up in locations around Barbados in the coming weeks, along with billboards and street pennants, each one a perfect photo-op and a digital pit stop on the road to Kadooment.

So whether you’re a Crop Over regular or new to the vibe, look out for the chattel houses, scan the code, and get plugged in to one of the sweetest summer festivals in the Caribbean.
