Background

The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) officially kicks off Crop Over 2026 today with the opening of the Central Bank of Barbados Crop Over Visual Arts Exhibition at the Queen’s Park Gallery.

You are invited to experience the Central Bank of Barbados Crop Over Visual Arts Exhibition, a three-part series titled “PUSH ▶️ PAUSE ⏸️ REWIND ⏪: Canvassing 60 Years of Independence.”

Opening today, Monday, May 26, 2026, at Queen’s Park Gallery, the exhibition runs until Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The first instalment, PUSH ▶️, is now on display and features works from 41 artists. It reflects the realities shaping life in Barbados today, encouraging reflection on change, technology, identity, progress, and the forces driving us forward as a people.

Bold, contemporary, and thought-provoking, PUSH ▶️ presents a snapshot of modern Barbadian society while challenging viewers to consider the consequences and impact of rapid change. It raises an important question: do we possess the strength, energy, or will to push against changes that may prove detrimental?

With its fresh approach, PUSH ▶️ offers an engaging visual experience for art lovers and the wider public alike.
