It is the big Crop Over weekend and the fun, food, arts, craft, entertainment, soca artistes, hot DJs and more will all come together in an exhilarating Bridgetown Market Party Zone to be staged on Saturday and Sunday.
A relaxing evening experience for Barbadians and visitors is being created as all the action starts at 3 p.m. and goes through to 11 p.m. on August 3 and 4, along the seaside from the Princess Alice Highway, Trevor’s Way, including Pelican Craft Centre through to the Mighty Grynner Highway.
Come see and enjoy the entertainment at Bridgetown Market.
The National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) Senior Business Development Officer André Hoyte emphasised that the Bridgetown Market which Barbadians have come to know and love, continues. However, the experience has been reshaped to underscore the value of local artisanal works while also providing space for other vendors, entertainers and those offering drinks and culinary treats.
There will be a Folk Parade at Bridgetown Market this weekend.
With over 160 art and craft artisans, traders and food vendors, five DJ stations and 20 DJs pumping the biggest hits, displays by the Landship, sunset concerts, steelpan, soca and calypso artistes, comedy and folk singing, the Bridgetown Market Party Zone is the place to be.
“As usual, it’s an event for the entire family where you can safely stroll, shop, eat, enjoy the entertainment in a relaxing sunset atmosphere,” Hoyte noted.
Bridgetown Market is a family event.
The Bridgetown Market Party Zone provides the perfect space to enjoy all that the Crop Over Festival has to offer.
On Saturday, the entertainment includes a Folk Parade with the Barbados Landship and Dancin’ Africa Folk Troupe, performances by the Euphony Steel Band, and the Israel Lovell Drummers. In addition to Ultra The Band with Asanta, featured performers will include Khiomal, Jay C, Summa, Shanta, Fadda Fox, Brucelee Almightee, Nikita and Fadda Fox.
On Sunday, DL Smith Folk Troupe, the Folk Experience Chorale, and Double Laugh Theatre will hit the stage. Patrons will also be treated to steelpan performances from Déjà vu, the Lowrey Worrel Band featuring Junior Monarchs Sakarah and Mr. Showman. Tony Commander Grazette, Kereesa, Yahandje, Statement, Jus D and MADD with Eric Lewis and Kevin Hinds will also perform.
Patrons are asked to support the vendors.
“There is no doubt that Bridgetown Market is still alive, though we’ve made some tweaks this year. We’re encouraging people to come out, bring the family, shop, eat and drink and party safely along the entire stretch from Princess Alice to the Mighty Grynner Highway,” the senior NCF official stated.
