Registration for the two major Crop Over singing competitions are about to close.
Young talent hoping to vie for this year’s Junior Monarch title must register by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023. Their senior counterparts, who want to compete in the Pic De Crop Finals, must register by 4 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023.
The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) stages the Junior Monarch Competition to offer young Barbadians to learn the artform of creating music and express themselves through the rhythms of calypso and soca, two of the island’s most beloved musical genres.
The biggest calypso competition on the island, the Pic O De Crop Finals, features the best calypsonians on one stage. This year, 17 finalists will do battle against reigning monarch Quon.
Meanwhile, bands hoping to be a part of the Foreday Morning jouvert have until Monday, May 8, 2023 at 4 p.m. to do so. Youngsters who want to enroll in the NCF’s Volunteer Programme should register by Friday, May 12, 2023 at 4 p.m.
Persons can click here to register.
Should you encounter any difficulties kindly: Email kevin-moore@ncf.bb for the two competitions and kelly-ann-gaskin@ncf.bb for Foreday Morning and the NCF Volunteer Programme. (PR)
