To be responsible for the implementation of the Cultural Development programmes in the discipline of Theatre Arts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The implementation of the Cultural Development programmes in the discipline of Theatre Arts;
Formulate and implement programmes in the area of Theatre Arts;
Maintain accurate records of cultural activities in the area of Theatre Arts;
Organise and/or conduct training courses, seminars and workshops in theatre of Theatre Arts;
Work with cultural groups and schools in the development of cultural programmes in the area
of Theatre Arts;
Develop and administer programmes in the community in the area of Theatre Arts;
Promote the broad objectives of cultural development in Barbados;
Undertake the planning and coordination of activities related to national, regional or community cultural festivals;
Initiate contact with agencies internal and external to Barbados in matters relating to cultural development;
Foster good relationships between the public and the National Cultural Foundation;
Assist in documenting the Cultural Heritage of Barbados;
Present written or oral reports when required, on all work done, to the Chief Cultural Officer;
Conceptualise, create and design theatrical productions or other dramatic works for cultural presentations;
Review and respond through email, writing or telephone correspondence/enquires relating
to activities of the Theatre Arts Desk;
Keep abreast of current trends and development in Theatre Arts in Barbados through community contact and research;
Prepare project proposals for activities geared to enhancing cultural development in the area
of Theatre Arts;
QUALIFICATIONS:
A University Degree in Arts or related discipline from an approved institution, plus training and work experience in the relevant area of the arts.
OR
A Diploma or equivalent qualification from an approved institution and three (3) years working experience in the area of the Arts.
OR
Acknowledged work with a minimum of seven (7) years working experience in the relevant area of the Arts.
