‘I AM, because my we were’ is a virtual spoken word event celebrating African heritage, history and awareness. The event showcased on the NCF’s social media pages on Wednesday, April, 14 to signal the commencement of the Season of Emancipation. Viewers were encouraged to reflect on four intersecting themes: oppression, black womanhood, identity and ancestry through the voices of young Barbadian poets. It was hosted by Rhyminister and featured artists Carmen, Teryck Haynes, Irijah tha Don, La Shawna Griffith, Stoned with Cupid, Jovana and GiiibbZ of Fizix.
