The Children of Crop Over get their opportunity to parade in mass colour and splendor at Kensington Oval on Saturday July 28th The day will be filled with dreams and vision as we continue to safeguard the traditions of masquerade in the sweetest summer festival. The event features the parade of the Kings & Queens of the Junior Bands, The Parade of the Junior Bands, the Party Zone, Cool Down Zone & After Party.
Junior Kadooment presents a re-newed and repositioned as an outstanding demonstration of more traditional masquerade. In this regard it now surpasses Grand Kadooment in its aesthetic success and skills transferred are encouraged to be utilized in the adult competition in subsequent years. The efforts of the National Cultural Foundation Junior Costume Making Workshop have encouraged the growth of the Masquerade discipline in primary schools by ensuring that the traditional artisanal skills are retained.
The Crop Over Festival is seen as a safe festival; Kensington Oval will provide a state of the art venue for the young masqueraders to parade and party. The venue will accommodate the growing needs of the band leaders to showcase their immense creativity. It will also expand the seating capacity of the audience for the parade and patrons will also have the opportunity to purchase corporate boxes to view the festivities and entertain family, friends or collogues.
