As the story goes, a young company was contracted to provide services for the National Cultural Foundation’s new Junior Calypso Monarch and they immediately saw the vision of this evolving programme.
Recognising the potential, even in its embryonic phase, to the development of the many juniors who would grace its stages over the years, the following year they stepped forward as a sponsor of the event.
More than two decades later, this company IGM Stage Lighting has been illuminating the programme and by extension the emerging careers of its participants both literally and figuratively, with its continued commitment as an associate sponsor.
In his address at the Crop Over 2015 media press briefing held today, Wednesday, May 27, the Honourable Stephen Lashley, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth lauded IGM Stage Lighting for its commitment to the juniors and thanked them for their contribution to the success of the programme almost from the inception. He noted that IGM will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary and took the opportunity to congratulate them on achieving this milestone, adding that their decision to come on board was at a time when they [IGM and the Junior Calypso Monarch Programme] were both in their embryonic stages so the significance of this longtime relationship is the fact that they are growing together.
Representatives from IGM were among the mentors offering advice to the juniors at the recently concluded developmental workshops, providing tips on dynamic types of lighting along with its impact on the performance, the costume and any pitfalls they should avoid in delivering that performance of a lifetime.
This partnership is a match made in heaven! IGM lists among its organisational values a number of principles that if emulated will also bode well for the success of the juniors. Ideals like Achieving – pride in a commitment to always delivering on their promises; Attaining Superior Standards – doing the best that they can do and continually improving; a commitment to delivering quality in everything they do; the right attitude; maintaining professionalism with watchwords like efficiency, consistency and reliability; and last but not least possessing enthusiasm with all the positivity and passion to bring them through.
