Daphne-Joseph Hackett

Theatre Arts (Drama)

About

When you think of the dramatic arts in Barbados one of the first names that comes to mind is that of Daphne Joseph-Hackett.
Fully immersed in script-writing, editing, tutoring, producing and directing, the assistant mistress of Queens’s College for over thirty years, remains supremely responsible for wringing superb performances from the depths of a myriad of school children-depths they did not know they had. School clubs the length and breadth of Barbados benefited from her remarkable talents and advice- the joys of speech, the power of language, and the basics of stage presentation.
The Daphne Joseph-Hackett Award in Drama is presented to the person or persons who, with words and expression can engage us into a dramatic world, making us laugh, cry, rejoice, and experience life.
