todayJuly 16, 2026 3

Background

The public is advised that several traffic restrictions and parking arrangements will be implemented on Saturday, July 18, 2026, to facilitate The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust & AffinityPlus Junior Kadooment at the National Botanical Gardens.

To ensure the safe movement of participating bands, children, officials and patrons, no unauthorised vehicular traffic will be permitted through the event space.

Road closures will take effect from 6:00 a.m. at the following locations:

  • Clyde Walcott Roundabout to Waterford Bottom. Only public service vehicles and authorised event traffic will be permitted to travel in both directions.
  • The junction of Waterford Road, Waterford Bottom and Station Hill.
  • The traffic lights at Green Hill, Spooners Hill and Codrington Road.
  • The junction of Bush Hall Main Road, Savannah Road and Bush Hall Yard Gap, in the vicinity of Howard’s Supermarket.

Only emergency and essential services vehicles will be permitted within the restricted area between the eastern small-gate entrance of Combermere School and the Clyde Walcott Roundabout to the west.

Parking for patrons will be available at International Gardens, accessible from Waterford Bottom, and at the Netball Stadium.

Authorised band caterers should access the National Botanical Gardens from Station Hill or the Clyde Walcott Roundabout and enter the venue through the Barbados Water Authority gate.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the directions of police officers and traffic officials, use alternative routes where possible and allow additional travel time when moving through the surrounding areas.

The National Cultural Foundation apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents, motorists and patrons for their cooperation as Barbados’ youngest masqueraders take centre stage at The Sandy Lane Charitable Trust & AffinityPlus Junior Kadooment. (PR)
