The National Cultural Foundation has a new cultural online training platform. The learning tool, which is an additional arm to the main website offers training courses in multiple categories of the arts and free to all users.
The innovative project is a first for the NCF and Barbados. It was made possible through a partnership with a cadre of artists, arts educators, and government agencies.
While delivering the feature address Chief Executive Officer of the NCF Carol Roberts-Reifer hailed the initiative as “invaluable”.
“It is an invaluable resource tool that delivers basic training in cultural art forms in an easy and enjoyable format. It features over 37 facilitators and offers a total of 28 courses, suitable for all age-groups where participants can absorb the material at their own pace and as often as they like,” she said.
In explaining the level of thought and planning which went into the educational platform, the CEO further explained:
“We have also worked closely with the Ministry of Education to create learning tools for students studying theatre, music and dance at the CAPE and CSEC level.”
Other areas covered on the platform include joinery, en plein air painting, basketry, spoken word, voice training, video production, make-up and more. The platform provides an opportunity for persons interested in the creative sector to learn a new skill at their own pace in the comfort of their home.
Interested persons can go on to the NCF website www.ncf.bb click on training and explore. (PR)
