Background

Information Systems Technician
To support in the provision of network and systems maintenance and support services. Support may be provided both to users of the system and to service delivery functions. Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving problems and providing information about the system. It may also include monitoring their its performance.

To work with minimum supervision within the organization by performing the following duties personally:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Executing daily maintenance, documentation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of information systems.
Providing reports on network performance statistics, network diagnostic information and site surveys.
Using network monitoring tools and help desk logs to assess the performance of the network and its ability to meet the needs of the Foundation.

Providing Helpdesk support to all end users:

  • Answering, evaluating and prioritizing requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer related technologies.
  • Logging and tracking requests using helpdesk software, maintaining history records, and related problem documentation
  • Handling problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up

Installing, documenting, auditing, maintaining, and trouble-shooting all information technology assets including but not limited to:

  • Physical network infrastructure: cabling, switches, routers, etc
  • Hardware: personal computers, servers, printers, personal digital assistance, etc
  • Software: Application software products, server and personal computer operating systems software.
  • Designing, installing, operating and maintaining state of the art information systems technology including local and wide area networks, mainframe, mini and microcomputer systems and associated peripheral devices.
  • Writing and reviewing programs to handle the collection, manipulation and distribution of data for a wide variety of applications and requirements.
  • Applying diagnostic, corrective and recovery techniques to all facets of the integrated information systems.
  • Developing, managing and testing back-up recovery plans and ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Auditing and maintaining all department facilitated or generated logs, files and publications
  • Providing training and assistance to a wide variety of personnel
  • Observing all department rules and company policies.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with at least two (2) years’ work experience in a similar role
  • An Associate Degree in Computer Studies and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Server management and networking

Salary Range: Z10 – Z1 ($54,989.55 – $71,936.17) annually.
