For Budding and Established Designers of: Accessories, Apparel, Clothing, and Textiles

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

Fashion-EDGE (Educating, Developing, Growing, Entrepreneurs). This programme has been designed to cluster a group of local designers who will work closely with a head design consultant at the Caribbean Market Center to develop multiple capsule collections for export and e-commerce activities locally, regionally and internationally.

This call will focus on developing a fashion production system which will run at full capacity for over eighteen months, where participants will have the opportunity to work in an Eco-system that supports output.

The programme will comprise of production for sales and support for skills and design development.

Ø  Design

Ø  Technical

Ø  Patterns Development

Ø  Finishing

Skills Development:

Ø  Finishing

Ø  Packaging

Ø  Merchandising (virtual and visual)

Ø  Drop shipping/Exporting, Terms and Conditions

The Call is for participants (with designing experience between 3-10 years) as follows:

Ø  Fashion Designers

Ø  Sketch designers (design concept building)

Ø  Machinist

Ø  Pattern makers

Ø  Finishers

Ø  Production Assistants

Whilst having the opportunity to focus in on the areas which they wish to transition into as their area of expertise, participants will develop new skills. Local designers and small producers will be available to satisfy the markets with quality designs, finishes and packaged brands locally, regionally and internationally.

WHO IS THIS ACCELERATOR FOR?

• Fashion Industry practitioners whose businesses are formally registered with the Barbados Artists Registry
• Regional practitioners are invited to register for the online training components. They must have 3-10 years experience

All approved entities or individuals must be willing to allow for monitoring and evaluation for impact assessment for up to 12 months after the close of the programme and to allow for publishing of non-sensitive business information for programme promotional and development purposes.

WHAT WILL PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE?

The programme will include the following topics:

• Product refinement for various types of products and services including: elegant/ formal wear; ready-to-wear; menswear; children’s wear; resort wear; casual wear; cultural wear; accessories including jewelery, bags, belts, shoes, scarves; and décor ready for market.
• This component will be delivered online to regional practitioners.
• Creation of a Virtual Showroom; Visual Merchandising for Digital and Social Platforms; Packaging Your Products; Best Practices and Finishing; Introduction of Eco- Friendly Fashion

WHERE WILL THE PROGRAMME TAKE PLACE?

The accelerator programme will take place at the Caribbean Market Center located at 4B Building 7 Newton Industrial Estate, Newton Christ Church Barbados.
