NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE FESTIVAL OF CREATIVE ARTS (NIFCA) 2024 TWENTY-ONE DAY FILM CHALLENGE RULES |

DATES | The NIFCA 2024 Twenty-One Day Film Challenge will occur during October 9th – October 30th, 2024.
|
APPLICATION | One application form should be completed online by each participating group during the period of Monday 16th September to Monday 7th October, 2024.
The application deadline is 2:00pm on Monday 7th October, 2024.
This challenge is open to persons aged 16 years and older by 1st September, 2024. Application to the challenge does not guarantee participation. |
REQUIREMENTS | Applicants must be groups of no less than four (4) persons and no more than eight (8) persons. Each group must submit a showreel of no less than ninety (90) seconds and no more than one hundred and twenty (120) seconds.

DEADLINE FOR FILMS | Participants must upload or deliver the finished film to the NCF by 4:30 p.m. on Day 21 of the Challenge. Only those that meet the deadline will officially be part of the competition.

CREATIVITY | All creativity must take place during the twenty-one day period of the competition. This includes scriptwriting, rehearsing, filming, scoring and editing. On Day 1 of the Challenge participants will be given the required premise from which they are to write their three-act script.

STRUCTURE | Six (6) groups will be selected to work on two (2) narrative fiction festival feature films. |
PERMISSIONS | All persons and locations in the film must be represented by the necessary permissions and releases. Forms can be made available upon request. Groups are required to submit behind-the-scenes stills and footage. |
FOOTAGE | All footage must be shot between Day 1 and Day 21 of the Challenge. No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used. This includes use of animation. |
STATUS | All participants must be volunteers.

EQUIPMENT | Any type of video or film camera may be used. |
MUSIC AND SOUND EFFECTS | Participants are encouraged to work with local musicians/composers to write and record music for the film. It is also permissible to use pre-recorded music. Rights must be obtained, except if sourced from royalty-free libraries. This would also apply to sound effects. Violations may result in disqualification. |
DURATION | The actual finished film should be no less than forty-five (45) minutes and no more than sixty (60) minutes. This includes the opening slate, opening credits, title screen and the ending credits.

DISQUALIFICATION | Entries deemed to be inappropriate and unsuitable for public viewing will be disqualified.
|
JUDGING | A panel of judges will adjudicate the entries to arrive at the first and second prize winner. |
SCREENINGS | Winning entries will be screened for public viewing by the National Cultural Foundation after the announcement of the winners.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS | The Intellectual Property rights of each film remain with the creator/s. |
