Background

The Crop Over Folk Concert highlights the rich cultural history of our beautiful island through an evening of music, dance, and reflection as we explore the significance of the 1937 riots through the powerful voices of our 100-voice folk choir. The 1937 riots were a turning point in our nation’s history. It was a time when the voices of the people rose up against injustice and inequality, and the power of music played a vital role in bringing people together.

Today, we continue that tradition, using the power of music to unite our community and honour the legacy of those who fought for our freedoms. Our folk choir, made up of talented singers from all over Barbados, will transport you to a time when music was a force for change.
